Der Markt für günstig gedrehte Indie Zombiefilme muss gut laufen. Fast jede Woche gehen bei uns Neuerscheinungen über den Schreibtisch. Dieses mal ist es 'Edges of Darkness' geschrieben und gedreht von Jason Horton. Dieser Zombie Streifen mit gleich drei Handlungssträngen.

Eine Geschichte handelt von einem besessenen Autor, einer Mutter und ihrem Sohn, die von einem fanatischen Priester verfolgt werden und (jetzt haltet Euch fest) einem Vampir Pärchen. Was kann man da noch sagen ... Zombies, Vampire und jede Menge Blut ... kann nur gut werden. Der Film ist abgedreht und einige Firmen haben schon Interesse an den Rechten bekundet.

Hier ein kurzes Interview mit Jason Horton:

'Edges of Darkness' is a true independent movie. Made by a bunch of minimum-wage kids for less than what most cats living at the poverty level make in a year. We're just horror-movie lovers making our horror movie. Maybe people will like it, maybe they won't. But we put everything we could into it, and it was made without any commercial artifice.

This has been the longest production I've ever been a part of. Postproduction alone took about a year to complete. I did most of that work myself - all the editing, sound design and mix. I had two friends, Shannon Hubbell and James L. Bills, donate their time to do effects shots. When working on such a low budget level, every little task becomes monumental, and you have to do jobs you're not trained or qualified for in order to complete the picture. Like I constantly tell my producer 'at the end of the day, when you make an ultra-low-budget movie, what you end up with is an ultra-low-budget movie.' And what's wrong with that?
