'THE WATCH' PRODUCTION ART AND INTERVIEW

fangoria.com had the chance to talk to 'Jeepers Creepers' director Victor Salva about his latest project 'The Watch'.

I didn’t think there were any stories out there that could tempt me to return to horror so soon after doing the 'Jeepers Creepers' films back to back, but I read 'The Watch' and knew this was a film I had to make.

'The Watch' has, for me, the best of both worlds in the horror universe, something that takes the audience on an incredible journey through darkness and into the unknown. A journey that escalates quickly into a heartstopping and unforgettable rollercoaster ride full of believable characters and great action and horror setpieces that we have not seen before.

The film, set in World War II, follows a group of American soldiers in a snowbound forest, who find themselves battling a supernatural force the Nazis have unleashed to help them win the war. I was brought on to work on 'The Watch' when the project was at New Line. John and Daniel’s original screenplay has a remarkable idea behind it. I believe 'The Watch' has the potential to be a horror milestone—not just because of its originality, but for its pure scare power. Decisions are now being made as to where and when production will take place.

The script was written by John Claflin and Daniel Zelman ('Anacondas'). Make sure to check out the fangoria.com site (see related links below) for more production art - [frank]
